With a background in design theory and practice, graphic communications and linguistics, Emily’s approach to designing better human experiences over the past 15 years have focused on helping people to deeply understand the problem or opportunity and working closely with users to uncover solutions and innovations. 

Whether in the digital space or in broader service design, Emily draws on her ability to visualise and articulate complex systems to make sense of them and improve or transform them for the greater good, meeting business and customer needs. 

She has experience on national and international scale research and across service design, user experience design, interaction design, and strategic design projects. Emily brings design expertise ranging across the public and private sector in New Zealand and abroad.

The core of Emily’s approach to human-centered design is to understand what is trying to be achieved, and involve those who will experience the solution to make it real so that the desired outcomes are reached. She sees herself as a design facilitator above all else, able to shepherd project teams toward shared understanding and common goals through a principle-based, adaptable and collaborative way of working.
