Managing Director / Wellington
Grenville has worked in the design sector for 30 years, consulting on brand, strategy, customer experience, user engagement and design thinking with a broad range of New Zealand businesses and Public Sector organisations.
Grenville is a strategic and creative thinker. He plays an active role with many of DNA's clients to challenge convention, inform strategic decisions and apply problem solving to customer experience challenges as the practice works on complex, large scale and mission critical projects.
Since joining DNA in 1991, and assuming the role of Managing Director shortly thereafter, he has embraced the rapid and significant change in how design is practiced and where it is applied. He has guided DNA’s evolution into a customer experience design consultancy, and built a creative culture that has enabled both growth and evolution.
He is always seeking to find the value design can unlock meeting the right balance between strategy, innovation and effect - as measured by both business and customer value. During his time at DNA Grenville has worked for the likes of Telecom (Spark), AMP, MSD, NZRU / All Blacks, Immigration New Zealand, BNZ, Steel & Tube, Willis Bond & Co. ACC and BMW.
As a principal of DNA, he sits on the Board and provides strategic leadership and management to the business.
Grenville is a Fellow of the Designers Institute of New Zealand and was awarded the 'Black Pin' for outstanding achievement in 2013. Grenville holds a Diploma in Visual Communication Design from Wellington Polytechnic (now Massey University) and was inducted in to the Massey University College of Creative Arts Hall of Fame in 2017.
As a longstanding member of the Designers Institute, he has been a champion for value and effect and is convenor of the User Experience Category at the Annual DINZ BEST Awards.
Outside DNA Gren walks dogs regularly, mountain bikes often, travels as much as possible and escapes to the rural tranquility of the Wairarapa now and then.
