DNA and Immigration New Zealand are IXD Awards finalists
Founded by the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) in 2010 and first presented in 2012, the annual Interaction Awards (IXD Awards) celebrate design thought leadership and innovation around the globe. Each year, award recipients comprise a showcase demonstrating how interaction design impacts and improves human lives.
DNA design are delighted to have been notified that the Immigration New Zealand Visa Gateway project has been selected as a finalist in the IXD Awards – in the Optimising category.
The 6 categories are:
- Optimising: Making daily activities more efficient
- Connecting: Facilitating communication between people and communities
- Engaging: Capturing attention, creating delight and delivering meaning
- Empowering: Enabling people to go beyond their limits
- Expressing: Encouraging self expression and/or creativity
- Disrupting: Re-imagining completely an existing product or service by creating new behaviors, usages or markets.
The Immigration New Zealand project will be featured in the 2017 finalists gallery and will remain a permanent part of IxDA's Interaction Awards online archive – The Digital Yearbook.
This years panel of judges noted that entries this year were 'divers and explorers', as they covered a much broader range of challenges than in past years. The 2017 Shortlist stood out as projects characterised by heavy weight problem solving. From crime fighting to workers-rights, immigration issues, to helping the more challenged create better music – there were a lot of inspiring design approaches to truly important needs and challenges.
DNA’s Managing Director Grenville Main says “This is a significant achievement, and great recognition for a dedicated approach to solving a complex challenge by the Immigration New Zealand and DNA teams. For DNA, being in the company of Google, Fjord and Microsoft is a pretty high benchmark – DNA are the only Australasian company to get shortlisted this year".
This year, the jury met in Santiago, Chile to review shortlisted entries and select the 2017 finalists and winners.
The judges comments on the DNA project were;
“Exceptional work on customer journeys, the amount of work that informed the solution was notable. This is such a humane project, focussed on making a complex conversation simple".
